Private piano lessons at Ascend Piano Studio are designed for students who are ready for individualized, focused instruction after building strong musical foundations.
While many students begin their journey in group-based programs in our Studio,
private lessons serve as a next step for students who demonstrate
readiness, commitment, and support at home.
Limited weekly spots available.
Who are Private Lessons for?
Private lessons are best suited for:
Students who have completed Prestissimo & Ascend Classic Works Programs
Transfer students with prior piano experience (placement assessment required)
Students who are intermediate level and ready for deeper individual instruction
Families who are committed to consistent practice and long-term musical growth
Or homeschool students with daytime availability (9:00am–3:00pm)
Beginning students (ages 7–12) start in group programs, where they learn foundational skills more quickly and confidently.
A Note for Transfer Students
Transfer students are welcome.
In most cases, transfer students are placed into Presto, Prestissimo or Ascend Classic Studies first — even if they have previous private lesson experience — to ensure strong musicianship, rhythm skills, and reading confidence before moving into private instruction.
Placement is determined through a brief assessment.
How Private Lesson Work
Private Lessons Focus On:
Refining technique and musical control
Strengthening reading, rhythm, and interpretation
Individualized repertoire and goal-based instruction
Performance preparation and confidence
Learning how to practice independently and effectively
This level of study assumes foundational skills are already in place and builds upon them intentionally.
Lesson Length & Scheduling
30-minute private lessons at $84/month
45-minute private lessons at $126/month
Private lesson availability is limited and based on readiness, scheduling, and studio capacity.
Tuition is billed monthly and reserves a weekly lesson time.
Books are purchased by families upon teacher’s request / assignments.
Private lesson are year ‘round, with 2 week Holiday breaks in August and December.
Teaching Pathway
Most students at Ascend follow a clear progression:
Presto (Group Foundations)
→ Prestissimo (Group Studies Accelerating Music Development)
→ Ascend Classic Studies (Group Studies in Classic Works)
→ Private Lessons (Individualized Study)
This pathway allows students to progress faster, build confidence, and develop complete musicianship before moving into one-on-one instruction.
