Prestissimo is designed for students who are ready to move beyond the early stages of piano and begin developing stronger musicianship.
In this program, students expand their reading skills, strengthen rhythm and counting, and begin learning the musical patterns that allow them to play with greater confidence and independence.
Students explore new keys, develop stronger technique, and learn repertoire that challenges them to grow while still feeling successful.

Skills Students Build in Prestissimo
Students work with structured materials including Bastien Piano Level 2 and Level 3 books, technique studies, and a guided assignment book designed specifically for the program.
Note Reading & Music Literacy
Students strengthen their ability to read and understand music confidently.
Rhythm & Counting
Students develop strong rhythm skills through movement activities, rhythm games, and ensemble exercises.
Keyboard Technique
Students learn scales, chords, and triads while exploring multiple musical keys.
Theory & Musical Understanding
Students deepen their knowledge of key signatures, chord progressions, intervals, and musical structure.
Sight Reading
Students practice reading new music quickly and confidently.
Performance Skills
Students prepare music for recitals and gain experience performing for others.
What a Prestissimo Class Looks Like
Prestissimo classes are active, engaging, and structured.
Each week students participate in a variety of musical activities including:
guided repertoire study
technique and key work
rhythm and theory games
ear training and listening
collaborative learning activities
Students also spend time working independently with headphones while the teacher provides individual support.
This combination allows students to move forward confidently while still receiving personal guidance.
Learning Through Music and Movement
Students strengthen musical concepts through engaging activities and games designed to reinforce rhythm, note recognition, and musical listening.
Activities may include:
rhythm movement games

Curriculum Acknowledgement
Prestissimo is a piano curriculum originally created by respected pedagogue
Cherie Webb with Cherie Webb Music Studio, whose innovative group-piano teaching methods have helped students develop strong musicianship, confidence, and independence at the piano.
At Ascend Piano Studio, this curriculum is thoughtfully implemented and adapted to meet the needs of each class
and student while maintaining the core structure of the program.
