Who this program is for
Semi-Private Piano Lessons at Ascend Piano Studio are designed for children ages 5–6 in Idaho who are new to music and piano, and who benefit from a warm, structured, and encouraging learning environment.
This program is especially well-suited for siblings or family-arranged pairs who are beginning piano together and whose families value gentle structure, consistency, and positive early learning experiences.
This program is ideal for:
Young beginners with little or no prior music or piano experience
Siblings or family-arranged pairs who learn well side by side
Children who are curious, playful, and still developing focus
Families seeking a strong musical foundation before transitioning into larger group classes or private lessons
Classes are intentionally small and offered by request, allowing each child to receive individual attention while learning alongside a sibling or familiar peer in a calm, supportive environment.
How Semi-Private Lessons Work
Lesson Format: Semi-Private (2 students from the same family or a family-arranged pair)
Length: 30 minutes, once per week
Lesson Days: Monday–Wednesday (offered by request)
Instruction Style: Structured, encouraging, and developmentally appropriate
Tuition: Flat monthly rate
Registration: Required (registration fee applies)
This lesson format is intentionally designed for siblings or familiar learning partners beginning piano together. Both students are enrolled at the same time and attend the lesson together each week.
This format allows young students to:
Learn from the teacher while also observing and encouraging one another
Build confidence through shared progress in a low-pressure environment
Stay engaged through interactive, movement-based, age-appropriate learning
Each child receives individual attention within a shared lesson, creating a calm and supportive experience that helps young beginners feel successful from the very start.
Curriculum & Materials
This program uses the My First Piano Adventure by Faber & Faber curriculum, a nationally respected piano method designed specifically for young beginners.
Through this curriculum, students will develop:
Basic piano technique using age-appropriate movements
A steady sense of rhythm and beat
Early note recognition and keyboard awareness
Musical listening and focus skills
Positive, healthy practice habits
Lessons emphasize joy, consistency, and confidence—not pressure or perfection—creating a strong foundation for continued piano study as children grow.
Enrollment Timeline
Semi-Private Piano Lessons follow an intentional enrollment cycle to ensure thoughtful placement and a positive start for each child.
Applications Accepted: April – July
Registration Period: April – August
Classes Begin: Late August / Early September
Program Duration: September through May
Waitlist: Available year-round (placement based on availability and fit)
Because Semi-Private lessons are offered by request and designed for siblings or family-arranged pairs, class placement is limited and determined based on program fit, schedule availability, and readiness.
What Parents Can Expect
Parents play a supportive and encouraging role in this program. At the early stages of piano study, children learn best with gentle guidance and consistent routines at home.
Families can expect:
Clear, age-appropriate weekly assignments
Practice guidance provided through the studio’s digital assignment platform
Transparent expectations for home practice, designed for young beginners
Regular communication and an end-of-year performance opportunity
Parents are not expected to teach piano at home. Instead, my role is to guide musical learning, while parents help create a positive, consistent practice environment.
My goal is to partner with families to create a positive, sustainable musical experience that supports each child’s confidence, focus, and enjoyment of music.
